Bakslap has once again proudly partnered with the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation to bring the national Skin Check Truck back to the Sunshine Coast this August!
This follows a highly successful visit in 2024. Thanks to the generous support of our local sponsors, everyone in the community can receive a FREE skin check – no appointment needed.

With the Sunshine Coast region having one of the highest rates of melanoma skin cancer in Australia, the Bakslap team is bringing the Skin Check Truck back after a successful visit in 2024. This offers locals the opportunity to get a FREE skin check and learn about prevention in our community. Skin checks are performed by specialist melanographers.

📍 UniSC, Car park 8 (directly behind the transit centre) 🕗 8AM – 4PM
In 2024, hundreds of locals received free skin checks across three Sunshine Coast locations. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with strong community support bringing the Truck back in 2025 to continue promoting early detection and awareness.

Australian Skin Cancer Foundation (ASCF) started December 2021 with just a marquee, a few teardrop flags, 3 board members, a few volunteers at Bondi Beach, and a thousand ideas!
Their Mission is to provide support, education, fund research and drive advocacy for melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.
In 2023, they launched Australia’s first mobile National Skin Check Truck. This groundbreaking initiative provides FREE Skin Checks to communities who otherwise may not be able to access a similar service, while further educating them on skin cancer and how to take preventative measures.
What an amazing story!!
